Education
Education is the single greatest success factor in disease prevention.
First, Promotores de Salud educates Promotores through 40 hours of instruction on important health topics.
Second, Promotores educate their family, friends, and neighbors to prevent disease and live healthy lifestyles, reducing health disparities.
Third, Promotores de Salud provides Promotores with continuing education
Fourth, Promotores de Salud educates the community to help support Hispanic residents’ effort to become participants, partners and directors of health care in their families and communities.
In 2005, Promotores de Salud documented over 2,025 health encounters and since 1999 has graduated 163 Promotores. By providing unique, accessible, health education, Promotores help members of the community become more aware of health issues and how to address them.
